Replacing a window in Cape Coral tends to run $900 to $1,800 per opening for an impact single-hung, fitted, sealed and permitted. A non-impact window that relies on shutters for storm protection runs about $550 to $950. A typical install day handles a whole house.

Most homes in the Cape were built fast, in waves, and a lot of them still carry the window the builder chose: a mill-finish or white aluminum single-hung with clear, single-pane glass. Those frames conduct heat straight into the room, the weatherstripping hardens in the sun, and the sash balances give up after twenty-odd years of humidity. Replacement is the job we do most.

Signs a window is due

  • A cloudy film that won’t clean off. Moisture has got inside a double-pane unit through a broken edge seal.
  • A sash that drops or won’t stay up. The balance is broken. On an old window it is often cheaper to replace than to chase parts.
  • Puddles on the sill after wind-driven storms. Usually failed sealant around the frame or a cracked sill, and the stucco beneath may already be soaking it up.
  • Pitted, chalky or corroded frames. Common on canal lots where salt spray reaches the house every day.
  • Rooms that stay hot by late afternoon even with the blinds down.

How a replacement is done here

Cape Coral homes are almost all concrete block with stucco, so the window sits in a masonry opening rather than a wood frame. We cut the old sealant, remove the unit, clean the buck (the wood strip that lines the opening), replace any rotted section, and set the new window on shims to the manufacturer’s anchor pattern. Every anchor goes where the product approval says it goes, because that is what the inspector checks. The perimeter is sealed inside and out, the stucco return is patched where needed, and interior trim is refitted.

We never shrink an opening to fit a stock size. Each window is ordered to your measurements, and in bedrooms we keep the clear opening large enough to stay a legal escape route.

Impact or shutter-ready?

When windows are replaced in Cape Coral, the openings need storm protection to current code. You can get there two ways: impact-rated glass, or a non-impact window paired with approved shutters or panels. Impact costs more on day one but removes the pre-storm shutter chore for good. Our impact windows page covers that choice in detail, and we quote both side by side if you want to compare.

Frames and glass we fit

Vinyl is the budget-friendly frame and doesn’t get hot in the sun. Aluminum is thinner in profile yet stiffer, a good match for big openings and contemporary homes, and it is offered in white, bronze or black. Either can carry Low-E glass to cut the heat that comes through west and south walls.

These replacement prices are estimates drawn from Southwest Florida installer pricing, not a quote for your house. Opening size, style and glass type set the real figure.

Not sure if you need a full window or just a fix? A fogged pane or a broken balance can sometimes be repaired for much less. Every range is listed on the Cape Coral window price guide.

Replacement questions

Can I replace windows a few at a time?

Yes. Plenty of homeowners do the leaking windows or the west side first and finish the house a year later. Each batch gets its own permit.

Will replacing windows damage my stucco?

Expect a little patching around the edges whenever an old window is removed. We repair the stucco return around each opening; repainting the whole wall is a separate job if you want it.

Does someone need to be home on install day?

Someone needs to let us in and walk the job with us at the end. After that your day is your own.

Do you remove the old windows?

Yes. Taking the old windows out and hauling them away is included in the installed price.
